Maximizing Breastfeeding CME Evaluation

Objectives: Upon completion of this internet Enduring Material, participants will be able to:

 

a. Demonstrate knowledge in the following area: informed choices, physiology of lactation, medical contraindications to breastfeeding, and the risk of artificial feeding

 

b. Identify the essential elements of in-patient and out-patient care of the breastfeeding dyad, and the physician's role in supporting this care and formulate strategies to address issues that are experienced by the dyad, following discharge

 

c. State the Academy of Pediatrics' recommendations for duration of breastfeeding and the importance of tracking breastfeeding initiation and duration rates in the practice setting.
